Saturday, November 15
All Saints’ Choir travels internationally and participates in teaching workshops frequently. They will be on hand all day Saturday, November 15, for workshops at Shake Rag Alley and Trinity Episcopal Church for choir directors, soloists, and musicians. Workshop participants will join with choir members for a 7:30 evening performance at the Mineral Point Opera House directed by Arlene Skwierawski. Read More
Sat. December 13 - Santa at Shake Rag Alley
Yes, Mr. and Mrs.
Santa are heading for Shake Rag Alley on Saturday, December 13. Bring your
little ones for special photos taken with Santa and for gingerbread cottage
making and other holiday craft classes for children. The Christmas trees
will be decorated at Shake Rag Alley, and many special plans are being
made. So check back for more information a little closer to the event.
December 11-14 - A Christmas Carol with Coleman
It's a Dickens of a holiday at Shake Rag Alley! Coleman
will present his one-man show of the heartwarming Charles Dickens' story, A
Christmas Carol, playing every part from Tiny Tim to old Scrooge to
the Ghost of Christmas Future.
Coleman will present several performances between December 11 and 14. More information will be forthcoming on exactly when and where. But mark your calendar now for this special Christmas treat, a benefit performance for Shake Rag Alley.
March 28-30 2009 - GARDEN GETAWAY
When March finally rolls around, every gardener
is SO tired of winter and SO ready to jump into gardening. But it's still
too darn cold. That's when you want to come to Shake Rag Alley for GARDEN
GETAWAY!
It's a weekend of great workshops in garden art and the art of gardening. Many creative art workshops, many enlightening lectures, and all focused on enhancing your very own garden. Get a jump start on gardening fun at Shake Rag's GARDEN GETAWAY.
Classes will be described in the spring catalog that will be out in January, and on the website about the same time.
June 12-14 - MOSAIC MADNESS
It's three days of exciting exploration of mosaic
art and the variety of substrata on which to create it.
Participants
will make several take-home projects, experimenting with color and design
using pique assiette (broken tile/crockery shards), glass, and found
objects to decorate two and three dimensional shapes such as plaques,
table tops, small sculptures, and much more. It's a very free, inventive,
and creative time, with much room for experimentation and creativity.
It's the first of three different 3-day concrete/mosaic sculpture events planned for 2009 summer.
July 10-13, 2009 - WOODLANDERS GATHERING
The willows will bend once again as folks who enjoy
trees, forests, and the touch of nature will be gathering at Shake Rag
Alley for the 8th annual Woodlanders Gathering. It's open to beginners
and pros alike, 14 and up, and it's casual workshops on the lawns, under
tents, in the historic buildings of Shake Rag Alley. There are usually
50 to 60 classes available across the three or four day event, as many
as you can cram into each day. (You pay a day fee plus modest materials
fees for some classes.)
Daniel Mack, rustic artisan and author of many books on rustic craft and history, will be on hand to inspire and teach, along with a number of professional rustic woodworkers. Learn how to harvest willow and build traditional willow chairs, avant garde willow trellises, tables made of invasive buckthorn, concrete leaf casting, twig lamps, mosaic twig table tops, and so much more.
August 2009 - STAGE, SCREEN and STORY
In the month of August (dates
yet to be determined), you'll find some of the nation's best workshops
in acting, directing, and screenwriting right in the heart of Mineral Point,
WI, at Shake Rag Alley. Award-winning industry professionals from across
the country will share their working knowledge of performance and literary
arts, a rare opportunity for those who aspire to work in Hollywood, New
York, or the local community theater. (Pictured is Joan Darling, Emmy Award-winning
director and actress and creative advisor to Sundance Labs.)
